Summer time is here!

BBQ Grilling Season

Fire up that bbq grill with some helpful tips from EatingWell.  Read the 13 best tips for Summer, starting with the biggest debate of them all: Gas or Charcoal?  The tips also include the finding the right temperature and proper grill preparation.  If cooking outside isn’t your thing, one of the great things about living in KC is arguably the best BBQ restaurant selections!  Here’s a list of the 10 most-voted best bbq places in Overland Park.

Political Yard Signs

With the primary voting season quickly approaching, you may already start to see political signs popping up. The state of Kansas, and Overland Park, has rules and regulations to keep in mind when placing signage. The OP website has the list of rules for placing signs on private property. Check it out here!

For the 2018 election season:

  • Signs for the Aug. 7 primary may be posted June 23 through Aug. 9.
  • Signs for the Nov. 6 general election may be posted Sept. 22 through Nov. 8.

Here are some exciting neighborhood and city events!

  • The entire month of July is the Midwest Flower Fest at the Overland Park Arboretum (Learn More)
  • Starting Tuesday, July 10th, Deanna Rose Farmstead is offering Goat Yoga! For $25, reserve your spot here (Classes fill up fast & consider wearing clothes you won’t mind a nibble or two)
  • Farmer’s Market in full swing! Find the freshest food grown locally every Wednesday and Saturday morning in Downtown OP
  • Throwback Thursday Live! Tribute bands will be performing songs from The Police, Elton John, Stevie Nick, U2 and The Beatles in Barley Square – Park Place. View all the events from the Visit Overland Park website!
  • Local Life 3rd Friday: July 20th in Downtown OP featuring a movie in the park (Grease!)

The Milburn Fields Volunteer Yard of the Month Judges regularly canvas the neighborhood looking for stunning yards. During the summer, a winner is chosen each month and awarded a $25 gift certificate (with bragging rights) for an exceptional job maintaining their home’s exterior and landscape.
