Goodbye to the Summer heat – welcome Autumn!
As previously mentioned, the annual HOA Garage Sale Weekend is coming this month! There will be signs placed around the neighborhood the week before. Make sure to drive around the neighborhood to see what your neighbors are selling – you never know the treasures you may find!
We’ve got something fun in the works!!
Special Meeting Update
The special meeting was held on August 22 and the turnout was among the highest we have seen at any meeting – thank you for your attendance and participation. The official tally of votes can be found here.
Yard of the Month:
Our August winner 7721 W. 72nd Terr. Congrats! As a reminder, the Board awards a household with a gift card in recognition of their effort of maintaining a beautiful yard, flowers, appearance, etc.
NEW lawsuit complaint: As announced at the special meeting, a new lawsuit was filed against the Board. It is a continuation of the previous complaint, however due to the nature of the situation a new suit was filed. Read the filing here.
Discrimination Complaints: The Board is working with legal counsel to resolve the two additional complaints that were submitted. For the purpose of transparency, you can read the Kansas Human Rights Commission claim and also HUD claim documents on our website. Both are claiming racial discrimination. The HOA has provided each department the requested documentation for the respective investigations. We will notify residents as soon as we have a resolution.
Board Meetings: A quick reminder that monthly Board meetings are open to all! We try to meet on the first Thursday of each month – more information can be found on our website here. There will be no September meeting, but we plan to meet October 5th at the Panera at 75th and Antioch at 6:30 pm.
By-laws Project Update: We’ve discussed at our annual meeting that we are working to update and reformat our association’s bylaws to be easier to understand and consistent with other associations. We welcome you to stay involved and attend our meetings if possible. Drafts and working documents of all reformatting will be available and shared periodically. The official Bylaws will be finalized for membership voting approval by the Annual Meeting next year.
