Summer Storm Cleanup
Hi Neighbors, I know that some areas of our neighborhood have dealt with no electricity for periods longer than others, and some homes withstood more damage than others. Please be a good neighbor to those that need help.
Storm Clean Up Information:
The City of Overland Park has a debris drop-off location that is open for residents. Read more on the city website for more instructions. Click here for more information.
Facebook Update:
Although Kansas Law does not require an HOA to maintain a group page, and it was a wonderful resource for the neighbors, the Milburn Fields Families group has been deleted. The Board has regretfully decided that the liability regarding of many of the posts is not in the best interest of the association.
We will maintain the website and email monthly newsletters with neighborhood updates and other city events happening nearby. Please make sure the your contact information is updated by emailing us at: milburnfieldsjoco@gmail.com
Yard of the Month:
Our July winner 7325 Newton. Congrats! As a reminder, the Board awards a household with a gift card in recognition of their effort of maintaining a beautiful yard, flowers, appearance, etc.
Garage Sale Weekend:
The HOA will put out signs around the neighborhood the week before the date.
Complaint Update: The Board is working with legal counsel to resolve the two additional complaints that were submitted. For the purpose of transparency, you can read the Kansas Human Rights Commission claim and also HUD claim documents on our website. Both are claiming racial discrimination. The HOA has provided each department the requested documentation for the respective investigations. We will notify residents as soon as we a resolution. There are no other active lawsuits for the HOA.
Lawsuit Update: On 6/28/23, the lawsuit was dismissed with prejudice. Mediation resulted in an agreed upon resolution, and neither party may discuss the terms or detail of either the resolution or mediation.
Board Meetings: A quick reminder that monthly Board meetings are open to all! We try to meet on the first Thursday of each month – more information can be found on our website here. The next meeting date August 10th and we’ll meet at Panera at 75th and Antioch.
By-laws Project Update: We’ve discussed at our annual meeting that we are working to update and reformat our association’s bylaws to be easier to understand and consistent with other associations. We welcome you to stay involved and attend our meetings if possible. Drafts and working documents of all reformatting will be available and shared periodically. The official Bylaws will be finalized for membership voting approval by the Annual Meeting next year.
Annual Membership Meeting Slides: If you happened to miss the annual meeting on April 1st, the slideshow is posted to the Meetings page of our website. Most voters said that a September bulky item weekend would work – around the same time that Overland Park Fall Festival is planned – to coordinate with the neighborhood garage sale. More information to come!
