Overland Park also operates a <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.opkansas.org\/resident-resources\/trash-and-recycling\/bulky-item-pickup\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">drop-off Recycling Center<\/a> <\/strong>at 11921 Hardy.<\/p>\n<p>Our neighborhood currently contracts with\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gflenv.com\/support\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>GFL<\/strong><\/a> (previously named WCA) for our weekly trash and recycling needs. GFL\u00a0observed Holidays are listed as <strong>Independence Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, New Year\u2019s Day.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Trash Pickup<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-1010\" src=\"http:\/\/milburnfieldsop.com\/home\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/wca-trash-cans-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Household waste should be bagged before being placed in approved cans provided by\u00a0<strong>GFL<\/strong>. Do not put yard waste in bins. If you place yard waste in your bins, you trash will not be picked up. See the Yard Waste section below for more instructions.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Recyclables Pickup<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-1011\" src=\"http:\/\/milburnfieldsop.com\/home\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/wca-recycle-can-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Recycling service is unlimited for Overland Park residents. \u00a0If you fill up your recycling cart, you may place excess in another container labeled with the word &#8220;recycling&#8221; or the universal recycling symbol. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.opkansas.org\/city-services\/trash-recycling\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Be aware of the items that are not accepted as Recycling.<\/a><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<\/div>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Yard Waste Pickup<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-1005\" src=\"http:\/\/milburnfieldsop.com\/home\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/yard-waste-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Due to a citywide mandate (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.opkansas.org\/Resident-Resources\/Trash-and-Recycling\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Overland Park Trash &amp; Recycling<\/a>), yard waste removal is included with your base service. Yard waste is picked up weekly, year-round on the same day as your trash service.<\/p>\n<p>Yard waste includes grass clippings, leaves and small tree trimming debris. Yard waste should be placed in biodegradable\/compostable paper bags or in 4-foot bundles.<strong> Per new GFL policy, trash bins are no longer accepted and plastic bags containing yard waste will not be picked up.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Each home can put up to 10 paper bags per week. No longer is it coordinated by the City of Overland Park. If you are interested, call GFL directly to coordinate special pickups, which may be subject to an additional charge payable by the resident.<\/p>\n<p>Read the OP City information concerning some good things to remember in terms of <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.opkansas.org\/resident-resources\/trash-and-recycling\/bulky-item-pickup\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Regulations for Bulky Pickup Here.<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Up to three of the following types of items will be accepted per household, per quarter:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Furniture.<\/li>\n<li>Mattresses, which will be recycled. Please use this form to let us know if you will be leaving a mattress.<\/li>\n<li><del>White goods such as appliances like refrigerators, freezers, washing machines and clothes dryers.<\/del><\/li>\n<li><del>Electronic items, such as televisions, computers, or monitors.<\/del><\/li>\n<li><del>Lawnmowers, which must be empty of any fuel or oil.<\/del><\/li>\n<li>Carpeting, up to four-foot-long rolls that are securely tied, less than 50 pounds in weight. Two rolls count as one item.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The following will not be accepted:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Hazardous waste including flammable, explosive\/reactive, corrosive\/caustic, toxic\/poisonous, radioactive or biologically active.<\/li>\n<li>Automotive battery, engine oil or fuel tank.<\/li>\n<li>Tires.<\/li>\n<li>Compressed gas cylinders.<\/li>\n<li>Glass panels where any dimension exceeds four feet.<\/li>\n<li>Wood fencing and decking materials.<\/li>\n<li>Yard waste.<\/li>\n<li>Latex or oil-based paint.<\/li>\n<li>Fertilizer, pesticide, solvent.<\/li>\n<li>Liquid waste.<\/li>\n<li>Solid waste and recycling material that are collected as part of regular curbside service.<\/li>\n<li>Any waste or material that is prohibited from being received, managed or disposed of at a landfill.<\/li>\n<li>Riding lawnmowers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Residents can schedule a drop-off for many of these items at the Johnson County Hazardous Waste facility in Mission.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Consider the environment before throwing away any items.
